My thoughts

Most of us already know what made me want this. The appearance of it, of course! It looks absolutely stunning and how I saw this was it was going to very much like the VDL Lumi-layer primer and it was similar but I find it pro-longed my makeup, the VDL Lumi-layer did not. I found this very comfortable to wear and although it was lightweight, it was a lot more moisturizing than I expected it to be. Not sure what “diamond powder” is exactly and if whether it’s good for long-term use, it does not sound like an ingredient that absorbs well nor can break down on the skin.

Overall

  • Texture: 4/5 – Thick serum with very fine shimmery iridescent in it. In the bottle, it appears to have small capsule sized particles but they break down and spread really nicely into the skin. It dries to a glowy finish, I don’t find it sticky or tacky but more rather like a really nourishing facial serum/oil feel. I’m actually very surprised that this kind of consistency can prolong makeup wear and also acts as a fantastic primer.
  • Scent: 5/5 – I personally don’t smell anything when using this if anything – it has a super, super faint silicone scent to it.
  • Performance: 5/5 – Works like a charm, definitely worth the hype and nice. Do you need this in your collection? That’s really up to you, I personally see myself repurchasing this because it worked for me and I quite like it.
  • Packaging: 4/5 – It’s cute! I have no complaints about it. However, I would love to see expand into a line, I think it would be successful. Maybe making like a glowy makeup essence, cream and etc.
  • Overall: 4.5/5 – I liked it! I think makeup users who enjoy that glossier model, glow, the dewy look will appreciate this kind of product very much. I found this perform a lot better than any western primer I’ve tried in the past. Those silicone-based primers don’t do anything for me so it’s nice that LANEIGE released something that gives the skin that glass skin type of appearance.

It’s Skin Be A Flower Tone-Up Highlighting Cushion

Hi friends! Welcome back to my blog and this week is more of a swatch and explanation type of blog post rather than a review. I’m sure we all know why I got this. It’s from Its skin and just look at how incredible packaging. If you guys have been following me for a long time, you would have known that its skin was one of the first brands I tried when I first got into k-beauty. They’re always known for their clever and cute packaging with innovative products. Remember the cookies and cream hand cream? smells and looks exactly like cookies and cream and it’s super affordable!

Alright, without further or do – this cushion is not your typical foundation cushion, it’s actually a highlighter cushion. Don’t make the rookie mistake like me and apply this directly onto your face without checking what exactly it is. It has highlighter fluid inside and there are little shimmers to it.

with SPF 50 PA +++
Made in Korea

In Shade: 02 GOLD

How I like to use this cushion is I apply this is layers on my cheeks for a beaming highlight. You can also use this as a luminous base for your foundation as well. If you guys are familiar with liquid highlighters such as the cover fx custom enhance drops, this kind of reminds me of it but less metallic looking. You can mix liquid luminizers with your foundation to achieve that effortless, dewy appearance to your skin.

Anyone can really make a DIY cushion for a foundation, blusher, bronzer, highlighter and etc, if you’re interested in a tutorial post, please let me know on the comments so I can make one for you guys! It’s quite simple but it’s always nice to share some DIYs and learning new beauty hacks.

Anti Haul: Chapter 2

Hello friends! Happy New Year ~ It’s been a while since I have been on here!

It’s that time again, time to anti haul some products I have been seeing on sale sections. I’ve learned one thing this year and that is not to buy things JUST because they’re on sale. I end up wasting money and I could have spent that money on something else.. Something I actually really want. I have a lot of enabler friends and they would give me excuses to buy stuff I don’t necessarily need. I never turn to their opinion anymore, I ask myself is this practical? Will I get use out of this? How many uses will I get out from this?

Tarte Life Of a Party Blush Palette: This palette looks kinda cute but tacky for the most part because who would travel with this? It’s too much to look at. As much as I love tarte blushers, I don’t see myself picking this up at all and the pans are narrow set so you have to have percise blush swiping to not hit the other pans.

Touch in Sold Metallist High Shine Cream Palette: No way in heck this palette is a cream formula. I’ve swatched this at multiple stores and it was this weird dry, play doh-like formula with no pigmentation. The glitters in it are chunky and just sad. I’m very disappointed with this product and was hoping for more pigmentation. Goes to show you that appearance of things can be quite deceiving.

I know, it looks like I’m a rampage about blush palettes and I really am. Initially, this was a palette I wanted prior to the launch because of trendmood. I love anything that has geometric, stained glass like designers however I own 2 narssist blush palettes and I do not use them. If I buy this one, this will be the 3rd one I am not reaching for. These don’t go cheap either so… thank you, next.

Silicone Sponges

Remember that crazy phase where the internet blew up with these things? I always laughed at them and thought they were ridiculous. There’s a whole bunch of brands that launched these such as sephora, milk, makeup revolution and etc. I remember seeing videos where people said there were more hygienic and easy to blend out makeup. I thought it was all a marketing scam and guess what? they still are in my eyes.

Welp, that’s it for now friends! Til next time 😉

[WISHLIST]: Chapter One – Sephora Edition

Hey beauties, it’s funny how these past few posts were quite negative.. Anti Haul, Product Flops.. I came on here to share things I genuinely would like to try out and want as a gift or I will purchase it for myself later on in life.

FAB – Coconut Water Cream
This is currently on sale at Sephora for 21 Canadian Dollars. I was quite intrigued by this product when I first came across it. I’m actually quite surprised how affordable it is now. I may consider getting it but I’m also quite unsure at the same time only because water, gel based creams are more effective for me to use during the summer time. I would need something waaay thicker for the fall and winter season to keep me hydrated and plump. During the colder seasons, my skin often looks very dehydrated and dull.

KIEHL’S Iris Extract Activating Treatment Essence
I am an avid makeup user and sometimes I need a skincare pick me up. I am a huge believer in Good skin = good makeup so skincare will always be my top priority before makeup. This essence marketed to be able to remove rough textures on the skin’s surface and smooths out everything, creating a visibly improved skin appearance. Currently, it retails for 57 Canadian Dollars, I am patiently waiting for Sephora’s upcoming Fall VIB Rouge sale.

Fenty Beauty – Diamond Bomb Highlighter
I am what you call an amateur highlighter hoarder. I own quite a few but I don’t own as much as beauty gurus or influencers. I went to Sephora with my friend and she kept nagging me to swatch this highlighter. Initially, I didn’t want to but when I swatched it.. I was kinda turned off how glittery it was but as I looked at even more and layered it on, I noticed that it sort of mocks the appearance of “wet skin”. The shimmers are very fine but I’m still able to visibly see them. I don’t own anything like this and I do believe it would be a great addition to my current highlighter collection.

Glow Recipe Watermelon Pink Juice Moisturizer
Everyone seems to be all excited for the watermelon mask but I’m all about this. This looks a moisturizer I can use under makeup, as an a skincare routine idea and all around a nice product to have on the go as well.. The waves-like glass bottle makes it look so luxurious and is so aesthetically pleasing for the eyes.

That’s it for now, friends. I wonder what else I will end up wanting or buying… Stay Tuned!

PRODUCT FLOPS: CHAPTER 2

Hey hey, this is probably the most active I have been on my blog and I really just wanted to stretch this series because there are quite a few products where I just did not like and I really wanted to share with you all my thoughts and opinions on them.

Disclaimer: What may have or may have not worked out for me doesn’t mean it will apply the same for you. Everyone’s skincare type is different. These are my personal experiences with these products.

The first bb cream I have ever tried!!
At the age of 17, I started getting more familiar with makeup and experimenting with different brands and products. Bb creams were a huge deal back then because they weren’t just for post surgery folks but they are the future of foundation because they are multi-function and provide anti-aging, whitening and buildable/high coverage. Bb creams may vary in texture and coverage but this one was very thick and has medium coverage. I loved this bb cream for my early stages of practicing with makeup. This bb cream had literally ONE shade and it’s most comparable to the Missha M Perfect Cover Bb cream in shade #21 but it has a really heavy grey undertone to it. I didn’t appreciate that it clung onto my dry patches and made my skin look aged especially around my smile lines and forehead. Maybe this bb cream is meant for oily skin users? Not sure but this was a flop for me and I don’t know why I repurchased this thing 3-4 times.

INC.redible You Glow Girl in Cosmic Blur

This product came out before the Colourpop Jelly shadows and I thought this idea was brilliant but at the same time, it was too good to be true. Anyone who has followed me on Instagram long enough would know that I am all about that holographic, duo-chrome, unicorn look. This is gorgeous when you first apply it and you can layer it pretty well. My issue with this is that if you accidentally wipe or touch your face, the highlight is GONE. I highly doubt this is going to be blendable with other shadows because it’s consistency alone. The concept is great, the formula definitely could be revamped and improved on. Overall, it is a fun product to play around with to take some cool photos with but it’s not meant for long wear use.

2501224 Shiseido Light Bulb Foundation in 774 Light Beige

I had extremely high hopes for this foundation but it just did not work out in the end. The shade match was quite accurate because this was only available online to purchase so I kind of just eyeballed my shade and hoped for the best. The one thing I appreciated about this foundation was that it never oxidized on me. This foundation has such a DENSE, thick and oily texture to it. Not something I would like in a foundation. It really weighed my face down and I felt extremely uncomfortable with it on. It’s the exact feeling I get when my skin is congested from a hot, humid day. The odd thing was my face didn’t oily regardless the fact my face felt weighed down.. it looked quite dewy and healthy but I just did not like it’s heavy texture. If they had a lighter formula for this, I would have loved it.

p425265-av-03-lhero Huda Beauty Winter Solstice Palette

I honestly purchased this palette for the blue-lavender shade aka “arctic glow” but it just didn’t work out. It looked really bad on my skin and it looked like a giant blue strip on my cheek even if I gradually layered it and took my time to blend it. Winter Rose and Northern Lights were okay but I was hoping they would be more buildable. Frosted Kiss (peachy shade) was a cream formula. I personally don’t really like cream highlighters because they don’t apply well and you have to work really hard to blend it in the skin. I prefer pressed powder highlighters because they’re not as messy and difficult to work with.

That’s it for this chapter, friends. Tune until next time for chapter 3 on Product Flops!
Have a good night~

[REVIEW] Artis Couture Diamond Glow Powder – Supernova

Good evening, friends. I wanted to hop on here to share with you a stunning, blinding and unique highlighter. There’s a lot of highlighters in the market now that claim they are duo chrome but really aren’t. This shade, in particular, caught my eye because of its superb lavender shade with a slight light blue shift to it. I believe many people can pull off this shade but it really depends on what your highlighter preferences are. I personally love them all – natural, bold/blinding and pastel duo chrome highlighters.

Notes:
– This was formulated without any Parabens and Sulfates.
– Retails for $35 Canadian for 4.5 grams
– Subtle to buildable – you can layer it a lot but do keep in mind, the more the layers – the more your skin texture will be emphasized *this applies for most, if not all highlighters
– The texture is soft to the touch
– I like and dislike how there is a sifter to this packaging. The sifter controls the amount of product that falls out but regardless, it still is a messy product
– I would love to try this product in pressed form. I’m not “advance” enough to use this without making a huge mess. I lose quite a bit of product everytime I use this and no, I’m not shaking/tilting it. The powder is so fine, it legit gets everywhere.

– TIP: I use a soft tapered with natural bristles and I believe this is the best all-around highlighting brush to achieve that blinding look.

Longevity: 5/5 all day long, does not transfer or disappear from your cheeks
Pigmentation: 5/5 amazing. enough said.
Overall: 4/5, -1 because I would prefer it in a pressed powder form
