This is an ultra-lightweight formulated serum that has colour correcting properties. It has a botanical complex that is able to soothe and counter the appearance of redness along with rejuvenating the skin. It’s formulated with Centella Asiatica extract which helps calm skin irritation and skin that is also sensitized by makeup application + external stressors. This contains an antioxidant green energy complex including chlorophyll – which gives it that brilliant green hue ~ it also can energize fatigue skin and protect it from environmental damage. This dispenses out as a green hue but it will turn into a beige colour.

Star ingredient:

Centella Asiatica Extract (Cica): is a plant-based ingredient that has multiple healing properties. The extract is rich with amino acids, fatty acids and etc that can help treat and prevent acne, calming down skin inflammation and promote collagen growth.

Skin background & Skin lesson:

Combination | PIE | Congested | Dehydrated | (Occasionally) Sensitive

Growing up, I use to think to cover up my flaws with a lot of foundation and concealer and that would make me feel better. My skin was never bad, however, I did have a terrible habit where I would scratch my face and it would turn into scabs, then it would scar. I think I learned a very valuable lesson when coming across these sorts of things because I was able to see the reality of what damage that could do to my skin.

From my late teen years to maybe when I was around 22, I was all about high coverage makeup that made my skin looked flawless. As I gradually got back into K-beauty, I realized I should be taking care of my skin and start preventing it from getting any worse than it is now. The first thing I started to include in my routine was to wear sunscreen regularly. I know, the sunscreen application can be a nuisance and texture of it can be uncomfortable at times. What’s worse? Protecting your skin and feeling uncomfortable temporarily or not then regretting it later on in life? You decide.

If you own any SPF powder and sprays, those are definitely not enough protection and you would need to apply an enormous amount of it for it to come into effect. I highly suggest you invest in a good sunscreen that is catered best for your skin. No two skin types are alike so just experiment around with mineral, physical and chemical sunscreens; check the ingredients and educate yourself what they can do your skin.

Now that my skin has recovered tremendously, I plan to protect it from here on and I’ve been wearing less and less makeup every day to work because I really don’t need it anymore. I’m sure most of us know that PIE never really goes away so I rely on products like this to neutralize my redness.

My thoughts:

I was so stoked to get this product because this is not available on Sephora Canada. I’ve seen a few of my American Instagram friends were featuring this product on their stories and I was so intrigued by the product. I really like this as a foundation alternative because it’s lightweight and provides me the perfect amount of coverage. The coverage for this is between light to medium; the finish of this is very dewy, your skin will look radiant and also very much like your skin! I love how natural this is and I even received compliments that my skin looks so good and “glossier model-like”. Which is an amazing compliment for me because I have always drooled over how gorgeous their skin looks! My biggest concern with this product was that it would oxidize or colour correct into an inaccurate shade for my skin. I’ve relatively pale so my foundation shades are (for you to reference off of):
K-Beauty: #21
Mac: NC15, NC20
NARS: Gobi
Sometimes universal shades/colour correcting products can be quite hit or miss with me so I’m glad this worked out in the end for me because I am a huge fan of Dr.Jart+ products and I don’t think they’ve ever failed me except the water drop cream. Now that, was a heck of a gimmicky product. It looked gimmicky and it was (Sorry, wasn’t for me!).

Overall:

  • Texture: 4/5 – This has a really unique texture to it. It is thick but as you massage it in your skin, it turns into this lightweight oil-serum texture. It first appears to look like a watered-down green paste but quickly turns into beige when you massage it in your skin. I think it does a great job naturally neutralizing away skin redness.
  • Scent: 5/5 – There is a slight scent to this but nothing I can really pinpoint what it is. It doesn’t linger and quickly goes away. According to the ingredients, there are essential oils in this and I’m assuming it’s to make the product smell more pleasant. The essential oils are lavender, grapefruit peel, rosemary and etc. If you are sensitive to essentials oils or scents, please use this with caution and also, be sure to do a swatch test prior to face application.
  • Price: 3/5 – I think it’s a tad pricey but Dr. Jart+ products tend to be on the pricier side of things. I see them as the “boujee K-Beauty” but I think it’s worth investing in if you suffer from redness and don’t really want to wear foundation. It’s a fantastic foundation substitute!
  • Performance: 5/5 –I’ve worn this with sunscreen and without on a 9-hour day shift and my face looked so good even after the end of the day. No separation, pilling or splotches. It looks fantastic! I would recommend you to blot throughout the day because I found myself kinda shiny when I didn’t. It really acts as a lightweight, weightless consistency leaving my skin look and feel natural. I only need about 2-3 drops to cover my entire face and it really makes a huge difference on the overall texture of appearance of my face. Firstly, I noticed how bright my complexion appeared and it even had that radiant glow from within. It is so beautiful!
  • Packaging: 4/5 – Practical, simple – I’m not sure if I’ll be able to get the excess product when I’m close to the end of the product but we will see…
  • Overall: 5/5 –  I love this! It acts as a second skin and is so moisturizing. It feels very comfortable to wear and can be worn with makeup. I would highly recommend you to this a go; I’m not quite sure how this would perform on deeper skin tones simply because it claims that this is marketed as a colour correcting serum from green to beige. I would most likely repurchase this because I’m all about the less is more type of look and I absolutely adore the technology behind this to make a product like this happen!

Stay tuned for an upcoming informative blog post on skin types, skin concerns in the near future. I’ve been working on this project for a while now but it has been taking me a lot of time to prepare this. Also, feel free to drop off any suggestions of products you would be interested in me to review or something you’ve seen on my Instagram feed that you would like me to do a review on.

What is Beta Glucan?

Beta Glucan is a polysaccharide sugar derived from yeasts/oats. It has skin soothing and some antioxidant properties that are fantastic to improve the skin’s appearance by reducing redness and any signs of inflammation.

My thoughts

I’ve used this toner mist consistently for 3 whole weeks every single day and I have noticed a huge significant difference in my overall skin’s complexion. Firstly, I noticed the redness around my cheeks are drastically less prominent and also my forehead does not produce as much as oil as it use to. I’ve used this toner alone and also mixed in with other toners, it doesn’t affect or have any negative affects on my skin.

Do you ever get that dry, dehydrated, cracky skin feeling after a hot shower?
I always seem to have that issue so the moment I step out from my shower, I would dose myself with this toner all over my face. SokoGlam Charlotte Cho shared that towel drying your face after a shower isn’t a good idea so what I do is, the moment I step out from the shower I would spray this toner mist all over my wet face.

This is a fantastic product to be used under or over skincare and makeup. I’ve brought this with me to work to refresh my makeup and it doesn’t shift or affect my makeup. Unlike most mists in the market, this beauty is free of irritating chemicals and also has a shelf life of 9 months, which indicates that it doesn’t have a lot of preservatives to it. Be sure to mark the bottom of the mist the date you opened it. Also, please be very careful with getting this mist too close to your eyes. It’s formulated with citric acid so it will burn your eyes if you get it too close.

I have been introducing my skin to a lot of new products and I noticed I would break out from them. Everytime my skin is irritated, burning or even red, I would quickly mist this all over and I would the inflammation and swelling go down with half an hour. How fantastic is that? I have combination, acne prone skin so my skin will have days where it may be more sensitive than others. I would do my regular double cleanse routine, mist a generous amount of this toner and let it sit then apply my iunik propolis viatmin synergy serum and my moisturizer of choice.

Lately, it has been a lot colder and dryer so my current moisturizer pick is the Cerve Moisturizing Cream (formulated with ceramides and hyaluronic acid). I tend to pick ceramide based creams during winter because they’re more on the thicker side and dense in concentration to rehydrate and restore my skin’s moisture barrier. I also like to use hyaluronic acid to retain my skin’s moisture.

Here is a photo of my skin after 3 weeks of continuous use to this product. If you’re curious how red my normal skin usually is, please reference from the photos below for my haruharu repetitive cream.

Overall:

  • Texture: 5/5 – Lightweight and effective
  • Scent: 5/5 – No scent what so ever! Non-scented products are perfect for all skin types as well!
  • Price: 4/5 – It’s a fair price for what you get and it’s free of irritants so I would highly recommend this to everyone especially those who suffer with skin redness and often have irritation
  • Performance: 5/5 – This is one of very few mists I love and use every single day. It’s so effective and the ingredients are pure. My skin looks brighten and refreshed from every use and I often like to use this as my skincare base and finisher to seal in everything!
  • Packaging: 5/5 – Packaging is practical, easy to read and use. Nothing complicating and perfect to bring on the go.
  • Overall: 5/5 – I am REALLY happy with this mist and will repurchase this when I run out. It’s one of very few mists that do what they claim. Sure, many mists in the market are able to give a “cooling and soothing” feeling temporarily but this is probably the first facial mist that has tremendously saved my skin’s irritation. I am quite blown away with the results and how happy my skin is now.

Thank you for swinging by and reading my review. If you have any further questions of this product, please feel free to leave a comment below and I will be sure to read it and respond within a timely manner. I wish you all beautiful skin and have yourself a wonderful weekend.
