HOW TO: Facial Oil

I’ve seen a lot of people on the gram and youtube apply facial oil in different ways and I find the methods I’m about to share may or may not work for you but these methods have been working for me for years. I first got into facial oils about 4 years and the very first oil I owned was the Fresh seabuckthorn and it was nice but I don’t think you should spend that much on a facial oil. Currently, I’ve been using the Beigic regenerating oil a ton and have been absolutely adoring it.

Technique #1: Warming it upon your hands

With clean hands, apply 2-3 droplets of the oil onto your hand and massage it until the product warms up and breakdown then gently pat the product through the face. I truly believe this allows better skin absorption rather than just taking the dropper and pouring the oil throughout the face.

Technique #2: Glowy skin foundation

This method will help you fake the appearance of glowy, radiant skin. If you have dry skin, fear not – this method may help you replicate the appearance of glowy skin without applying enormous amounts of products to achieve it. You can either use technique #1 and apply the foundation afterward or you can mix the facial oils with the foundation. I like to do 25% facial oil and 75% foundation or you can do half and half, depending on how sheer you want your foundation to appear. When doing this method, be sure to gently blot the face to reduce the appearance of excess oil – that way, you can preserve the foundation’s pigment.

Technique #3: Oils with actives

I like to apply vitamin C based oils on my face prior to applying moisturizer just because I prefer that method and I believe the active ingredients are likely to be delivered into my skin a lot easier. With a lot of trial and error, I believe this method works best for me. Feel free to share what works for you! I’m always so intrigued to hear how people apply their skincare steps and when.

3 Easy Steps To Achieve Glowy Skin

I would like to confidently say that my skin’s overall appearance has tremendously changed for the better in the past 4 years of my skincare journey and a lot of what I did was trial and error and learn more about my skin. The biggest thing I want to share with you is to not follow other people’s routines step by step. If you’re interested in hearing more on my journey definitely check out this blog post I wrote early of last year.

  1. 77293539_101654354616711_1151606044287548865_nHave a structure and elaborate skincare routine. Which means you don’t necessarily need 9 step routine. I personally can get away with a 6-7 step routine and it works for me. I don’t think it’s possible to achieve that skin glow with just 3 products (cleanse, tone, moisturize). I’ve tried this a handful of times and it just didn’t do enough for my skin. What I do is double cleanse, use a hydrating toner, brightening/resurfacing serum, hydrating serum, moisturizer, facial oil/sleeping pack. If your skin is moisturized, it will reflect that. If your skin is dry and dull, that means you’re not doing enough for it and you need to change up your routine. You also need to be consistent in order to see results, stopping/pausing on your skincare routine can potentially change the outcome for your skin.
  2. 75372329_187920119034779_1830205886427121355_nExfoliate, this is obvious but it also is very tricky. Many people including myself have exfoliated in the past and it can truly compromise your barrier and cause irritating. My skin can only tolerate chemical exfoliators and I can only use them once a week. If I really need it then I’ll exfoliate once more at the end of the week. The exfoliator I’ve been using a ton is the Paula’s Choice BHA Solution.

  3. 69657388_911318092538608_3428025595428448619_nFor makeup users: Choose radiant, illuminating makeup rather than opting for matte. When you use matte products, you’re doing the complete opposite of what you want to achieve. For oily skin babes, you need to be aware that when using illuminating products, you will likely need to touch up and blot more. I prefer using bb creams with dewy finishes, cream blushes, soft highlighters and tinted lip glosses/balms. I’ve been using a lot of illuminating bases lately and the one I’ve been adoring and I find very comparable to the Mac Strobe Cream but for a fraction of the cost has to be the Peach-C Peach Glow Base Cream.

I hope that was straight for you and helped you get a better idea of how to achieve that skin glow. Have yourself a wonderful week and good luck on your skin glow journey!

My First 2020 Beauty Wishlist

Happy 2020, darlings! 2019 was a rocky year but for the most part, a very lifechanging year, I almost want to call it the “turning point” year. I hope you all are having a fantastic start to your 2020, wishing you endless love, luck, positivity and prosperity. May 2020 be an incredible year for us. Now, without a further or do, let’s hop into my wishlist and why I may be interested in these products. I know I’ve released quite a few anti-hauls but how about things I want to try out and purchase.

MILK GLOW OILS

milk_makeup__glow_oil_lip__cheek__grab_now_whatsapp_64672852_or_dm_us_anytime_1559626232_db37f6fe_progressive

I have a fascination towards MILK products simply because of the vibrant colours and compact sizes make them so attractive and travel-friendly. I’ve already tried a handful of their products and I’ve enjoyed a lot of them from the cannabis mask, eye patches, kush mascara, holographic and highlighter sticks. They have a lot of amazing products. The product I’ve been dying to try but wanting to clear out my existing blush collection is their glow oils. These are antioxidant-rich tinted oils that can be used on your lips and cheeks for that gentle pop of colour and sheen. As much as I adore opaque, bold makeup for parties, I love the minimal, simple everyday look because it’s so easy to achieve and looks effortless! The shades I want are Astro, glimmer and halo.

RMS LIVING LUMINIZER

rms_beauty_living_luminizer_with_jar

If you haven’t heard of RMS Beauty before they are a clean beauty option and they’ve been around for quite a long time now. There are a few products I am interested in their range however the one that stands out most to me is their living luminizer. This product is formulated with biuriti, jojoba and coconut oil. It’s specifically to enhance skin’s overall look without being sticky, greasy or glittery, it has this soft reflective quality to it. The only thing that turns me away from this product is the price, this is 50 CDN, which is insane if you ask me. I’ve spent a lot of highlighters but for shimmery ones and brands that I am familiar with. I haven’t tried anything from this brand before which makes me kind of nervous to drop 50 on the spot.

REPLICA FRAGRANCES

375x500.31623I’ve always been curious about these fragrances. Every time I’m at the perfume aisle at Sephora, I’m always ripping through the Marc Jacobs, D&G, Fresh section but I always forget to smell the Replica Fragrances. That, or I’ve smelled far too many fragrances and my nose is stuffed with a bunch of different notes. My local Sephora doesn’t have any coffee beans besides the fragrance shelves. They really should consider adding those because it helps clear your nose palate so you can smell new scents without the previous scents interfering with the new ones. The one I am most curious about from their range is The Fireplace one. It’s ironic that I’m curious about this one as I don’t really like a lot warm scents but this is a warm + spicy scent. The only warm scent I like is the coco cabana fragrance from the Sol De Janeiro. It’s also really popular in the beauty community and pretty much everyone I’ve spoken to about this product really enjoys it. I also believe that fragrance preference is an extremely subjective thing so it’s best for me to go out and actually smell it prior to purchasing it because let’s be real here, perfumes are not cheap so it’s smart to know what you like prior to purchasing it.

GLOW RECIPE BANANA SOUFFLE MOISTURE CREAM

glow-texture_sept_3701-copy-select_ppage_250xI really like Glow Recipe products especially the Watermelon facial mist, avocado sleeping mask and the watermelon moisturizer. Their prices are kinda steep for what they are but I guess a lot of it has to do with the glass packaging because their packaging is definitely not cheap looking an I appreciate the thought and creativity they put into creating these fruity, ice-cube like products. This cream is formulated with banana and magnesium, these ingredients can promote skin healing, hydration to calm and balance sensitive skin. There’s also a beautiful blend of ingredients such as Centella Asiatica, chia, and turmeric, this lightweight moisturizer resets and replenishes skin for a healthy-looking glow.

Well, that’s it for now, my darlings! I’ll see you in the new post. Have yourself a wonderful day and enjoy the rest of your week!

STYLEVANA |Affordable K-Beauty Shop

The holidays are right by the corner and I know how stressful it is finding the perfect gift for your loved one. Fear not, I’m always here to lend a helping hand during a stressful time. StyleVana teamed up with me in perfect timing before the holidays and were kind enough to send over 3 beautiful skincare products to share with you all and you just might be interested in picking these up for yourself or loved ones. Let’s hop into it!

DSC_4434

Who is StyleVana?

There are so many online shops and it can get really overwhelming finding the perfect shop that provides timely shipping, quality customer service and also affordable prices; StyleVana is guaranteed to provide you excellent service every time. They are based in Hong Kong and ship all parcels through DHL. StyleVana sells a wide range of beauty and skincare products from Taiwanese, Japanese and even Korean beauty. Their deals are incredible and probably one of the cheapest I’ve seen so far. Did you know they also sell clothes and accessories as well?

DSC_4432.JPGShipping details – How fast is shipping, customs and etc.

I can only speak from my experience and my package got to me within a week, which is amazing because if anyone who lives in Canada, knows how difficult and slow Canadian customs can be with packages but they got to be quite fast. I was charged by Canadian customs for shipping and handling fees and StyleVana stepped in to reimburse my fees, which was very kind of them to do so. Also, I want to put it out there that they reimburse all orders that have custom fees however, you must send them a copy of your invoice as proof in order for you to get reimbursed so don’t throw away the invoice! Most companies won’t honor this so it’s fantastic to see that StyleVana truly cares about their customers and continues to provide excellent customer service.

In a hurry? They do offer express shipping via DHL for $10, this offer is only for the US only and is only available until December 19th.

Products I chose…

Cosrx Centella Cream

This product is small but mighty, starting off the product showcase is the classic Cosrx Centella cream; this is a cult favourite product and for a very good reason. This cream is hydrating and creates a protective barrier to the skin while delivering active ingredients to promote and repair skin from irritation and blemishes. This formulated with Centella Asiatic Leaf Water for maximum hydration while calming down the skin. This product is suitable for all skin types and even, sensitive skin types because of how mild and gentle it is.  I specifically use this as a spot treatment throughout the face and I would use this continuously for a week and I will start to see results within the first 2 days of continuous use. This cream is an excellent product for those who have stubborn, inflamed breakouts that pimple patches cannot clear up on its own. The price may vary where you purchase this cream but StyleVana has by far the cheapest price I’ve seen so far. It’s currently only $14.69.

Tonymoly The Chok Chok Green Tea Watery Cream

So there are several variations to this cream – there’s this one which is formulated for normal-combination skin types, the intense cream (dry) and gel cream (oily). This cream is formulated with pure fermented green tea extract, which is rich in antioxidants, it also provides intense hydration without being sticky or too heavy on the skin. There is over 63% of fermented green tea extract which allows the skin to retain moisture for long periods of time by forming a thin hydrating layer on dry skin. This moisturizer contains a fermented Korean green tea called ‘ChungTaeJeon’. This green tea has fermented through sunlight for over a year. This cream is made with quality ingredients to ensure maximized hydration to the skin. It’s currently only $10.59 on StyleVana.

Annie’s Way Hyaluronic Acid

Want to know the secret to a brighter complexion and having a spa-like experience? Boy, wouldn’t you like to know! Aside from using vitamin C based products to brighten the skin because it can be too strong for the skin, a great and effective alternative to that is treating your skin to a jelly mask! This mask is from the Taiwanese brand called “Annie’s Way” and has been around for over a decade now. It’s a very popular item in Asia for a good reason because of it’s lightweight, cooling gel mask texture and how relaxing it is to have on. Unlike some wash off masks that can be messy, this is mess and hassle-free. You only need a small amount of this slathered on the face and it works wonderfully. This mask is able to moisturize, firm skin while improving the appearance of the skin’s overall appearance and cleanses pores.

Last-Minute Holiday Gift Shopping Guide

So Christmas is right by the corner, have you already done your holiday shopping or not yet? No worries! I’m here to help with that and today, I will sharing with some awesome beauty products and gadgets you can give to your loved ones. Ready? Let’s get into it! I have a lot of Amazon recommendations and you’ll be able to snag these goodies using prime delivery. When it comes to gifts, I always like to find thoughtful and cool gifts where I know that a person does not have but interested in trying/owning it. Remember, it’s not the value you put into the gift but more of the thought and love.

Cool Gadgets

Facial Steamer

71-lzwbgk9l._sl1500_

Alright, so this first item is more of a “luxury” item but you can gift this to yourself this or a loved one. It’s not expensive nor necessary but it is a nice addition to your beauty routine. A facial steamer can unclog and clean pores, enhances blood circulation, assists to remove skin toxins and has therapeutic qualities. No need to go out of your way to get the brand name facial steamers, those ones range from 200 to 300 bucks and they’re definitely not an item you should use every single day. Facial steaming can only be used once or twice a week, if you steam your face too often you will likely breakout from it because you’re opening your pores every time you steam your face so keep that in mind. The one I shared on amazon is available for prime delivery and also an affordable option compared to the Panasonic ones.

61fb7o8jvql._sl1001_

This one I shared has a good rating, comes in two different colours and it also comes with a FREE pimple extraction kit. I would use this carefully because you could potentially irritate and also damage your skin if these tools are used incorrectly. Please use the pimple extraction tool kit with caution and be gentle to your skin.

Smart LED Bulb compatible with WiFi, Google Home & Phone

61hd-xqb9il._sl1001_

Technology is the future, my friends. If you have a smartphone and WiFi, you are set and you can pretty much customize your home for your liking and convenience. These light bulbs make incredible gifts because they are multi-colour, powerful and bright while you have the ability to control them using your phone or even google home. If you don’t know what google home is, you’re living under a rock. Pretty much everyone I know has one and they come in handy because with the command “hey google or OK, google” she is able to search up whatever you’re looking for, set an alarm/reminder, play music and you can even ask what’s the weather like for the week.

Available on: Amazon (Prime)

Stocking Stuffers (Budget-Friendly, Affordable Options)

Key chain covers

41skccuuuml

I’m sure all of us own our own pair of keys and we all know how annoying it can be when it comes to finding the right key to open our door, mailbox and etc. These key covers are so helpful because you’ll be able to differentiate from them. I’ve used these for years now and they’re so handy because you’ll know exactly which key is for what. They have these in cute designs and also plain coloured ones.

Available on: Amazon (Cute one) | Amazon (Plain)

Anything from Colourpop

is-this-real-life_3_800x1200718a5f115da0568db96da54abd20cdd5

I think they’re a really good makeup brand to start at if whether you’re a makeup noobie, someone on a budget or just appreciates makeup because their prices are quite unbeatable and super affordable. I think foundation and concealer can be tricky to buy for a family or friend because getting that accurate match is not always achievable so instead, I would recommend you to get their pan eyeshadow palettes, super shock single eyeshadows, coloured mascaras/eyeliners and even the fourth ray skincare line. They have a TON of affordable options for you try from so don’t feel so limited to only getting these that I listed.

Available on: Colourpop

Mini sets – beauty or skincare

hlgft_70862_inpack_r255463571nr9neykul._sl1500_

These are fantastic gifts because you don’t have to commit to the full size and there’s usually a big variety to try out. Pretty much every beauty company makes mini size products for trial/travel reasons so you’re bound to find an amazing set for a reasonable price. Check out your local drugstore or even check your favourite beauty store websites to see if whether they have any or fantastic holiday discount deals.

I hope these options helped you out, I thought these were some fantastic choices for you, your friends or even your family. Please let me know if you’re interested in seeing more of these gift guides because this was really fun to put together. 🙂

[REVIEW] BLIV MILK JOY CLEANSER

Behold, the long-awaited review because I clearly take forever to clear out products but here it is. I’ve been using this cleanser for about 2 months now and the cleanser I have right by my shower which explains why you never really see it on my Instagram feed. I finally have remembered to set it aside by my desk to share a review with you all and my experience with this cleanser.

B.LIV MILK JOY CLEANSER
5.3 fl. oz. / 150 ml | MADE IN TAIWAN – $13

Available: B.liv Official Website

Claims

  • Cleanses the skin while being moisturizing at the same time
  • It has a creamy consistency and non-greasy texture with a slight milky fragrance; it provides a comforting feeling after cleansing and maintains a healthy skin moisture level.
  • Mild yet effective cleanser to remove all impurities and protect skin against pollutants without irritation.
  • Light and hydrating formulation to cleanse skin gently without stripping the skin’s natural oils or cause a tightening sensation.

Key Ingredients

aloe barbadensis leaf extract is one of the most well-known, popular ingredients in skincare that treats damaged, wounded, irritated and sensitive skin. It contains anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, humectant and soothing properties that can prevent the skin from further irritation.

glycine soja seed extract is a soybean seed extract that is rich in protein, minerals and vitamin e. It also can reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and damaging effects of uvb rays on skin cells. It also acts as an effective moisturizer that can protect and shields the skin from excessive dryness.

chondrus crispus (carrageenan) is loaded with vitamin e and humectants that draw in moisture from the environment to boost skin’s hydration level. It can also protect against uv rays and helps treat inflamed tissues. The natural minerals namely, omega, zinc and magnesium, create a barrier to protect skin from harsh weather while helping to heal acne, rosacea and sensitive skin problems.

chamomilla recutita (matricaria) flower extract can relieve inflamed skin conditions and calms sensitized skin. It also provides antioxidant protection – aids in soothing, moisturizing and inhibits the growth of bacteria while improves the appearance of dehydrated or damaged skin by restoring suppleness and lessen flaking.

*bold = nice ingredients, italics = to be aware of.

Ingredient List:

aqua (water), lauramidopropyl betaine, tea-lauroyl glutamate, glycerin, disodium laureth sulfosuccinate, butylene glycol, glycine soja seed extract, chamomilla recutita (matricaria) flower extract, aloe barbadensis leaf extract, chondruscrispus (carrageenan), glycol distearate, peg-7 glyceryl cocoate, sodium carbomer, hydroxyethylcellulose, polyquaternium-10, citric acid, phenoxyethanol, fragrance.

My Skin Type and concerns:

Combination | PIE | Congested | Dehydrated | (Occasionally) Sensitive

My thoughts

I must say, I was quite skeptical of this cleanser at first not because how it appeared but more rather if whether it was stripping. As you can see, the ingredients list is surprisingly not too lengthy and has a lot of fantastic ingredients that are both hydrating and moisturizing. The first thing I noticed when I tried this cleanser was how it smelled, it smells like a sweet milky dessert, nothing overpowering or bad. In fact, it smells quite delicious. My skin can be quite sensitive and reactive to things I use but I found myself not having any issues when using this. Although there is a fragrance in it, it isn’t potent and as you can see, it’s at the very bottom of the list. I personally am not bothered by that. It also lathers quite well and does not leave my skin feeling tight and gross after using it so I do appreciate that it is accurate with its claims. If you flip the bottle around, you will notice a 14-day money-back guarantee offer if you are unpleased with the product. All you need to do is present the product with the receipt and leftover product. I really appreciate how confident they present themselves and how understanding their company is for honouring this for their shoppers.

Overall

  • Texture: 5/5 – This has a milky, creamy gel texture to it lathers into a soft foam. I find it really pleasant.
  • Scent: 5/5 – This smells delicious, I honestly thought I had a piece of dessert nearby when I opened the bottom up. If you like milky dessert scents, definitely check this gem out. However, if you are sensitive to scents, I would avoid this just because there is a bit of fragrance in it.
  • Price: 5/5 – This is very reasonable and affordable. I really think this is budget-friendly and for the amount of product you get for this? It’s a great bargain.
  • Performance: 4/5 – Did the job, I wouldn’t say it clears up makeup and debris but I find it’s a gentle and mild enough to be used as an AM kind of cleanser.
  • Packaging: 5/5 – It’s cute! Aesthetically pleasing, in a squeeze tube and has a smooth feel to the bottle. I think it’s a really nice looking cleanser!
  • Overall: 4.5/5 – This cleanser is exceptional for those who want a simple cleanser and for those who have normal, combination, oily skin.

Club Airy Suppin Makeup-free Pressed Powder – Bouquet (Green edition)

Can we just appreciate how adorable this packaging is? It has a beautiful stripe design with a delicate illustration along with a powder puff that has a bow! This is one of many of Japan’s popular items and I can understand why because I’ve been using this powder every single day to set my makeup and it really controls my excess oil from producing and keeps me matte without looking dry. I recall reading somewhere that you can wear this powder to sleep and it acts as a skincare powder, where it can minimize excess oil production throughout the night. I would recommend this to those who have normal and combination skin. If you’re sensitive to scents or have sensitive skin, maybe skip on this one because this does contain fragrance in it. It has a very soft floral scent to it, which I absolutely enjoy!

Kiss Me Sharp Gel Liner Super Waterproof 1.5mm

Link: Available Here

I absolutely adore their mascara line and the lengthening one is my holy grail. When I first saw this eyeliner in my package, I was so excited simply because I find Japanese eyeliners very heavy-duty and long-lasting. I specifically use this eyeliner to tight line my eyes and it lasts throughout the day – no smudging, bits on my face. The colour is a rich black and really emphasizes and makes the eyes bigger and brighter looking.
If you have been following me for a while, you would know that my signature look is my cat winged eyeliner. I only use waterproof eyeliners because I cannot afford to have my eyeliner smudging everywhere throughout the day.

LABO LABO Super Keana Lotion 200 ml

Link: Available Here

This is a Japanese brand and also is new to me, I’ve never seen this brand before so it was refreshing to see unique brands. The claims are it is a refreshing lotion that clears pore congestion, refines pores and also hydrates the skin. Sounds like the dream lotion, right? There also has no added fragrance, colour dyes, mineral oils, parabens, petroleum, alcohol and surfactant agents. This is super mild and gentle and suitable for all skin types! I’m all for simple skincare that is mild, non-abrasive and non-stripping so this right off the bat surprised me and made me very excited to incorporate it in my skincare routine.

JM Solution Water Luminous SOS Ringer Mask (35 ml x 10 sheet masks)

Link: Available here

I am a sheet mask addict, I treat my skin to a sheet mask every single day. My existing sheet mask stash is gradually dropping down because I have not been purchasing any new ones. The moment I saw this in the box, I was excited simply because I’m still exploring the JM Solution brand and have only tried one of their sheet masks in the past. I also am very big in barrier care, it’s crucial to me to focus on hydrating, moisturizing and also nourishing my skin. This mask offers a highly concentrated treatment that is combined with water that deeply moisturizes and hydrates the skin to improve skin’s overall appearance, elasticity, and texture. This is a cellulose sheet mask and the material offers comfort to the skin and delivers active ingredients effectively with high-adhesion. It contains beautiful ingredients such as hyaluronic acid, collagen, peptides, and aquaxyl with enhanced moisturizing ingredients. There is also panthenol and allantoin ingredients that are fantastic for calming, soothing and hydrating the skin, leaving it feeling like silk.

COSRX One Step Pimple Clear Pads (70 pads)

Link: Available here

If you don’t know or have heard of COSRX, you are living under a rock. COSRX has been around for quite a few years now and has a fantastic reputation for creating quality products at an affordable price. The One-step pimple pads contain BHA and White willow bark tree extract, they work together to correct and combat against uneven skin tone. Each pad is soaked in a generous amount of solution that can deeply penetrate and remove sebum and skin waste. There are 70 pads in here so it’ll last you a while. I’ve been using this and have been enjoying them, they’re not stripping or drying – they also do not leave a residue on the skin. I find this is very effective for my skin and also I find my skin appears to be more balanced.

Etude House Silk Scarf Double Care Hair Mask Pack

Link: Available here

I didn’t even know Etude House made hair masks but first time for everything, right? My hair has been overprocessed in the past and really needs some TLC. Alice was kind enough to send me 2 of these to try out. So the star ingredients appear to be hohobassi oil and ceramide (nano-ceramide). These two ingredients work together as a powerhouse to restore hair’s texture and overall appearance.

C-ROLAND Loshi Horse Oil Moisturizing Skin Cream (220g)

Link: Available here

Some of you may be raising your eyebrows and asking yourselves, “horse oil?” Horse oil has been used in skin care for many, many years; it’s packed with fatty acids and antibacterial properties to protect and maintain the skin’s barrier. It is used to treat burns, cuts, and eczema. This is formulated with 100% pure horse oil and has no irritating chemicals. It’s suitable for all skin types and can be used all season round.

If you’re interested in getting any of these or would like to shop at Lifecode Boutique, please feel free to use the code: AMY15 to get 15% off your purchase (code is only valid until 10/31/2019).

Thank you, Alice, for putting such a wonderful and beautiful package together. Everything was very thoughtful and fantastic quality. Although I don’t always share sensitive skincare products, I do prefer them over products that are complicating. The skincare products are very straight to the point, clear and just absolutely fantastic.

Please feel free to drop a comment or DM me on Instagram if you would like me to review any of these. That’s it for now, folks! Stay tuned for my next post!

[REVIEW] 107 Coreflex Essential Facial Mist

We all love a fantastic deal, Jolse is not only known for their amazing mega deals (products go low as 50 cents!) but they have a huge range of k-beauty products to choose from and free shipping! How incredible is all of that? I honestly have been shopping from them for over 3 years now and every time I get my parcel from them, everything is secured in packaging and they always include a generous amount of freebies to try from. I appreciate that they include an exfoliating cloth and blotting sheets, those are definitely essentials. I also want to give a special thank you to the Jolse Team for kindly gifting this product over to me in exchange to share a review and my thoughts with you guys.

Ok, without a further or do, let’s get into the breakdown of this lovely facial mist.

Available on: Jolse

My thoughts

It was instructed to use this after cleansing and to be sprayed on a cotton pad/apply with hands. I personally am gradually phasing out from using cotton pads because they absorb so much of the product and it’s extremely wasteful. My tip for you all is with clean hands, apply the skincare products on your palm and apply directly onto skin; that way, no product would be wasted and you save a lot of money doing this so try it for yourself! After a long day, I double cleanse my skin and go in with this product, I gently layer this mist on for an even application. Once it dries, my skin has this amazing GLOW to it, as if I just finished my entire skincare routine. I know it sounds like I’m exaggerating but I, myself, was pretty shocked to see what the mist could do for my skin. I’m a skeptic of a lot of things and until I try things, I will know exactly if it benefits or does anything for me. I had very minimum expectations from this product simply because it’s a mist. C’mon now! To my surprise, it did more than I expected it does for you so therefore, I’m quite pleased with it.

Overall:

  • Texture: 5/5 – Although this isn’t a cream or serum to reference off of texture. I will determine the texture and finish of this mist. I found the nozzle was pretty decent and evenly distributed product throughout my face. I also really liked how hydrated and nourished my face was after it dried up. It layers beautifully as the toning step and also a skincare “final step” mist. There was an ever so slightly tack when it dried however, it did not bother me as much as I thought. The trick to avoid this issue is to simply apply serums, creams on top of it.
  • Scent: 4/5 – There is a scent to this but rather more florally than anything sour. I was actually kind of nervous when I found out that there was vinegar in this but luckily it all worked out and it didn’t smell foul. The scent is rather pleasant and does not linger, give it about 10 minutes and it will go away.
  • Price: 3/5 – It is expensive! This is what you call boujie k-beauty because the price is about the same as Tatcha’s luminous dewy skin mist. If you have the money to get this, I would recommend you to do so because it’s like nothing I own. It’s the most nourishing and hydrating mist I own, it kind of plays three roles as a:
    toner – rebalances the skin
serum – nourishing and hydrating benefits
mist – delivers product evenly throughout the face without physically needing to apply it on
  • Performance: 5/5 – What can I say? I’m blown away by this and I’m very thankful I was gifted this to try it out because I’m not sure if I would have purchased this. Like I said before, if you have the money, get this because it does exactly what it claims and you will likely want to expand and try more from the brand. I personally had a positive experience every time I’ve tried their products.
  • Packaging: 3/5 – Kind of extra, in a sense where there’s too much going on. In fact, I had issues identifying what exactly it was; I had to look at the nozzle. The font sizes and claims on the front of the bottle were a lot. Anyway, I’m not bashing the graphic design to this, however, I’m just putting it out there that most people would have issues identifying what this is and does. The nozzle is alright, a lot better than most facial mist nozzles I’ve tried doesn’t get all over the place and is easy to work with.
  • Overall: 4/5 – The final verdict is this works, does the job as what it suppose to do and I’m very pleased with it. Would I repurchase this? I’m likely not going to, however, that being said, if I somehow have extra money to spare, I would most definitely repurchase it. Sure, this is a fantastic product however, you can achieve something similar or the same results if you have a proper and elaborate skincare routine. There’s no such thing of a one-stop shop, skincare item that will and can solve all your products. You as the user need to be able to do that for your skin. Try it if you like fermented products and want to achieve that skin glow because this will give that to you!

Firstly, I would like to thank Jin & Sungman from Rovectin for sending over some goodies for me to try. This was the first product I tried out because it really caught my attention. I feel that Hyaluronic Acid was a very popular ingredient last year but this year, I believe cica is somewhere on the top well-loved ingredients in skincare. I mean, what’s there not to love about it? It’s well-known for its multiple healing properties; it is rich with amino acids and fatty acids that can help treat and prevent acne, calming down skin inflammation and promote collagen growth.

My thoughts

The first thing I noticed about this balm, was how small it was. I honestly was expecting it to be triple the size but unfortunately, it’s quite small. The reason why I expect more product was because this is a kind of product where you can use as a spot treatment or throughout your face. I really like how there was no noticeable scent to this but if you look at the ingredient list, there are two kinds of lavender essential oils. If you’re sensitive to essential oils, please be sure to do a patch test prior to applying onto your face.

Overall:

  • Texture: 5/5 The balm has this really faint pink hue to it, it may not be as noticeable on your skin but if you look inside the tube, you’ll see the colour. This is way better than what I expected it to be, I thought it was going to be an extremely thick balm consistency where it doesn’t squeeze out so easily from the tube. I basically expected it to be similar to the glossier’s balm dot coms but thankfully it wasn’t and was more of a soft gel x balm texture. When you apply this on, you’ll notice it has a really pleasant and wearable mattifying finish to it.
  • Scent: 5/5 It has a very subtle lavender scent, you will barely notice it. As I experiment with more skincare products, I realize I like fragrances but not necessarily in my beauty products; If I can avoid them, I would. They can be potential irritants. Overall, this product did not irritate my skin so I personally had no issues with this. I just wanted to share this for those who are sensitive to essential oils to keep this in mind.
  • Price: 3/5 This is kind of expensive for my budget and I see this as “premium” skincare pricing for the amount of product that you get. I mean, if you use this as a spot treatment, then you’re set – it will last you for a while before you need to repurchase but if you use this for your entire face all the time, you will likely finish it up a lot sooner.
  • Performance: 5/5 It does exactly what it claims and says, I have zero complaints about this department. My skin feels so much softer and my breakout inflammation has dramatically reduced after 4 days of continuous use. Sometimes pimple patches don’t the job for me so I’m glad I have a product like this to turn to when my skin is in need of help. The most fragile region on my face has to be my nose; I often blow my nose and product gets wiped off my face so that tends to be the first area that usually starts to crack up and get really dry. This balm repaired and sealed up my broken skin barrier within 3 days of continuous usage!
  • Packaging: 5/5 It’s super simple but I really like how easy it is to read; It’s not too busy looking and you can easily identify it. I also like how travel-friendly it is. Basic isn’t always bad especially for skincare, I really appreciate when brands make things more easy to use and find.
  • Overall: 4/5 I’m very satisfied with the results this balm has given me but I’m not quite sure I would repurchase this but I will follow up with you all on Instagram stories if whether I will or not. I think it is worth a shot for those who have skin inflammation where you want to reduce. This is a fantastic spot treatment, I’ve specifically used this on inflamed regions on my face and I can see a remarkable difference the following day. The redness and raised bump gradually gets smaller from continuous usage. I actually prefer this product over the famous cosrx centella blemish cream; don’t get me wrong, I like it but not as much as this balm because this balm offers multi-functional purposes and really did a fantastic job maintaining and protecting my barrier from weakening. I found the cosrx blemish cream left an unnecessary white cast (does contain zinc oxide) on my skin while this balm glides on seaminglessly and looks like my skin. I would recommend this to those who have dry, dehydrated and inflamed skin.
